Week Two of the Antonio Srado for Congress Campaign Trail

This past week on the campaign trail reinforced why I’m running for Congress in the first place… people are hurting, Washington isn’t listening, and accountability is long overdue.

Across Florida’s 22nd District, I spent time engaging directly with voters—online, in comments, and through one-on-one conversations—about the issues weighing on their daily lives. Affordability continues to dominate every discussion. Families are feeling pressured from all sides including housing costs, insurance premiums, healthcare expenses, and basic necessities are rising faster than incomes. Seniors, who are on fixed incomes and caregivers supporting loved ones, are often bearing the heaviest burden, and too many are doing so quietly.

This week, I published a post outlining how seniors and caregivers are being pushed into survival mode—and why that must change. The response confirmed what I already knew. Specifically, that this isn’t a niche issue. It’s a family issue. It touches working parents, young adults, small business owners, veterans, and retirees alike.

I also engaged with press coverage on Florida’s affordability crisis, offering a district-level perspective to ensure the voices of real people, not just politicians, are part of the conversation. Too often, policy debates stay abstract. And my focus is on lived experiences and real-world consequences.

Accountability was another central theme this week. I made it clear that Washington has spent too much time avoiding responsibility for failed policies, regardless of party. If leaders or institutions influence public policy, they should be held to the same legal and ethical standards as everyone else.

Finally, I took time to honor service, including recognizing the birthday of the United States National Guard. As a former Guardsman, that acknowledgment isn’t symbolic to me. It’s personal. Service means showing up when it’s inconvenient, uncomfortable, and unseen—something Washington could learn from.

This week was about listening, telling the truth plainly, and setting expectations. I’m running to bring common sense, accountability, and real-life experience back to Congress.
